Defrost Timers and Synchronous Motors

Commercial refrigeration runs on repeating timed cycles: defrost, compressor operation, and the low-speed motors that drive them. Midwest Timer Service manufactures defrost timers and the synchronous motors behind them, so OEMs building refrigerators, freezers, and ice merchandisers can source both timing components from one supplier at production volume.

Where Timing Components Work in Refrigeration Equipment

  • Defrost control: cam timers sequence defrost cycles with repeatable mechanical actuation.
  • Compressor cycling: repeat cycle timers handle compressor sequencing and other automated cycling controls.

Defrost Electromechanical Timers

A defrost electromechanical timer sets the cycle in hardware, so there is no software to program on your line and no circuit board to troubleshoot in the field.

For refrigerators, freezers, and ice merchandisers, see our Model 175-177 freezer timer.

Synchronous Motor Models for Refrigeraton System

A synchronous motor runs at a constant speed, so a timing mechanism advances at the same rate every cycle. Our permanent magnet motors power timer mechanisms in refrigeration systems, and appliance OEMs use them wherever quiet, low-speed, high-torque rotation is needed behind a control panel.

  • Model 002: the highest stall torque in our permanent magnet line, 375 in/oz at 1 RPM.
  • Model 004: dual frequency 50/60 Hz operation, tolerant of voltage fluctuations
  • Model 006: a sinusoidal direction system for quiet, low-vibration running in noise-sensitive settings such as hospitality.

Each motor pairs with an M70 round or M80 pear-shaped gearbox to set the output speed your design calls for.

FAQ

Do you make refrigerator electromechanical timers?

Yes. Our cam timers are configured for defrost and compressor cycling, and our Model 175-177 is built as a freezer timer for refrigerators and ice merchandisers.

Do you supply synchronous motors for refrigeration equipment?

Yes. Our permanent magnet synchronous motors power timer mechanisms in refrigeration systems

What are your minimum order sizes?

The Model 175-177 timer has a minimum order of 144 timers, and our synchronous motors start at 150 units. We specialize in large OEM orders and do not sell single replacement timers.
